Baklava with Fork & Spoon Ghee

A luxurious Middle Eastern dessert made of thin layers of pastry filled with walnuts or pistachios, perfected with Fork & Spoon vegetable ghee which gives it a golden crisp and irresistible shine.

  • Medium-sized baking tray
  • Brush for applying ghee
  • Sharp knife for cutting
  • Oven at 180°C

🥘 Ingredients

  • ½ kg phyllo dough (goulash)
  • 1 cup Fork & Spoon vegetable ghee, melted
  • 1 cup crushed walnuts or ground pistachios
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 cup warm syrup for serving

👩🏻‍🍳 Preparation Steps

  1. Brush the bottom of the tray with a layer of Fork & Spoon vegetable ghee.
  2. Place a sheet of phyllo dough, brush with ghee, and repeat until you reach half the amount.
  3. Mix walnuts, sugar, and cinnamon, then spread the filling over the layers.
  4. Continue adding the remaining phyllo sheets, brushing each layer with ghee.
  5. Cut the baklava into squares or triangles before baking.
  6. Bake at 180°C until golden (25–30 minutes).
  7. Pour the warm syrup over the hot baklava immediately after removing it from the oven.
Tip: For an extra glossy finish, brush the top with an additional spoon of Fork & Spoon ghee right after baking.

  • The syrup should be warm, not cold, to avoid softening the layers.
  • The more phyllo layers you use, the crispier the baklava becomes.
