🥘 Ingredients

  • 2 cups white flour
  • 1 tbsp starch
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1½ cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp Fork & Spoon vegetable ghee
  • For frying: vegetable oil
  • For serving: syrup (sheera) or Fork & Spoon ghee

👩🏻‍🍳 Preparation Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, starch, yeast, sugar, and salt well.
  2. Add water gradually until you get a semi-liquid batter.
  3. Let it ferment for one hour until air bubbles form.
  4. Heat the oil, place the batter in a piping bag or squeeze bottle, then shape small circles while frying.
  5. Fry until golden and crispy, then dip directly into the syrup or drizzle with hot Fork & Spoon ghee.
Tip: For extra crispiness, fry the zalabia twice—first on medium heat, then on high heat.
